Scorpion Marketing Assistant Derek Frezieres knows these facts all too well.
That’s because his fiancé volunteers for an organization that works to support students and lower the dropout rate in L.A.

City Year is an education-based, nonprofit organization that works to help students build an ever-expanding sense of who they are, why they matter, and who they want to become. With dropout rates affecting Latino and African-American students the hardest, City Year has particularly focused on students in at-risk communities, with the aim of helping them explore their interests, graduate high school, and realize their full potential.
“My fiancé is dedicating a year of service to City Year Los Angeles. Through her, I have come to learn how important an organization like City Year can be for communities in need, and I’m thankful to Scorpion for the opportunity to offer some support,” Derek said.
“I think it’s awesome that Scorpion does things like this. It means a lot to win Employee of the Month, but it means, even more, to be able to support my soon-to-be-wife and such a noble organization.”
Once a month, Scorpion allows one of its EoMs to choose a charity to receive a donation from Scorpion Cares—the company’s charitable giving division.
